HOW TO STOP WORRYING-AND START LIVING !
YOU ARE NOT WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE-
BUT WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT, THAT IS WHO YOU ARE.
In his excellent book, how to stop worrying and start living, Dale Carnegie provides excellent material to empower people to overcome the worry habit
Fundamental facts
Live in day tight compartments-live for today, forget about yesterday and tomorrow
What is the worst that can happen-accept and improve on it
If you worry too much, the price you pay will be the loss of your health
Basic techniques to analyse worry
Get the facts, analyse the facts, arrive at a decision, and act
Eliminate 50% of your worries-what is the problem-what is cause-what are possible solutions-choose one and act
How to treat the worry habit
How to crowd worry out of your mind-don’t let the beetles get you down-CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS
Do not let yourself be upset by small things, life is too short
A law that will outlaw many of your worries–
95% of the things we worry about never happen
Co-operate with the inevitable
God grant me the serenity to accept the things cannot change; the courage to change the things I can;
And the wisdom to know the difference
Put a stop loss on your worry ask yourself- how much does it matter- at what point in time shall i forget it
Exactly how much more must I pay for this- don’t try to saw sawdust-it’s a waste of time
8 words that can change your life
Our life– is what our thoughts– make us!!!
Just for today- you only have one life-live it –enjoy it
I will be happy- I will try to adjust to what is
I will take care of my body- I will try to strengthen my mind
I will exercise my soul, mind and body- (think and act cheerfully and you will feel cheerful
High cost of getting even
Do not heat a furnace so hot you burn yourself- if you do this you will never worry about ingratitude
Expect it-people are ungrateful, they quickly forget goods
Bitterness and unforgiveness only causes you pain, not the other person
So why worry-forgive and put the past behind you- take responsibility for your own happiness
Where are your problems – in your mind. So never mind it – it you can’t fix it, forget it-once you have spilt millk out of the bottle, it can never be put back.
Consider the man who had no shoes on because his feet were amputated, vs. the man with no job. We can often feel sorry for our self and wallow in self pity; but we should realise that we are far better off than a lot of people.
Therefore count your blessings, not your problems- you can see, talk, and smell. walk, and enjoy the day- its up to you.
Find yourself- then be yourself (walk with faith, not with feelings)
Don’t let your thoughts or circumstances control you, rather control your thoughts which can change your circumstances, take charge of life, say I will be happy-If you have a lemon, make lemonade (See Philippians ch 4 v 6-8)
2 men looked through the prison bars-1 saw mud,1 saw stars-its all a matter of perspective.
How to cure depression in 14 days-it’s not what life gives to you, but what you do with life
Help someone else worse off -be unselfish- think and focus on how you can help someone-do a good deed everyday
How my mother and father conquered worry
Carl Jung said in 30 years in all patients in second half of their life, there has not been one whose problem in the last resort was that of finding a religious solution, if not, every one fell ill because he had lost that which religion gives to their followers (He had a sign above his office door which said-“whether called or not, God will be present)
Prayer-helps us to put in words what is troubling us- prayer is the most powerful force of energy in the world. Gives a sense of sharing our burdens- puts into force an active principle of doing something- connects us to God
Turn to Jesus – what a friend we have in him. He said in the world you will have trouble, but in me you will have peace ( Mat. Ch. 11 v 28-30) There is no other way that can guarantee you peace of mind- nothing
Jesus said- I am the way, the truth , the life- you will never find life without me
Dear Reader,
I pray that the above will inspire and encourage you, and that you will find peace- Paul reminds us to take every thought captive and ‘filter it’ through the words of Jesus.
THERE IS MUCH MORE TO COME, SO KEEP YOUR HOPE UP-BECOME A DISCIPLE (DISCIPLINED) FOLLOWER OF JESUS, IN ORDER TO EXPERIENCE PEACE AND JOY.
Blessings.
